Post Title: House Keeper
Report To: Primarily: Facilities Manager. Day to Day: House Keeping Supervisor
Responsible For: Nil

Job Purpose Summary:
- To ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance if the hospital in accordance with the cleaning schedule and the standards set by Cawston Park.
- To maintain a high standard of appearance within the hospital which contributes towards the quality of care and lifestyle for each patient.
- To maintain the privacy and dignity of each patient and their possessions.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be directly responsible to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- To clean all allocated rooms including furniture, fittings, fabric,carpets. Floor coverings and equipment in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
- To clean sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infection.
- To operate an effective laundry service.
- To record any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance or cannot be kept to the required hygienic standard through normal cleaning procedures. To assist the Head Housekeeper in periodic inspections.
- To deal with waste bags and the prescribed disposal.
- To be aware of and work within the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).
- To work within the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulation 1999.
- To work within the Hospital Hygiene and Infection control standards.
- To develop and maintain positive relationships with external agencies who have contact with Cawston Park.
- To attend any training courses relevant to the post as agreed with the post holder's line manager.
- To work in accordance with Cawston Park's policies and procedures, contributing as appropriate to the revision of these documents.
- To actively participate in staff appraisal.
- Liaising with the Health and Safety Representative/Staff Communications Representative for the department as necessary.
- Where appointed, to undertake the role of named First Aider.
- To work in accordance with the Company's time and attendance procedure to include the submission of timesheets within the specified timeframe.
- To ensure high levels of confidentiality at all times when dealing with sensitive material and information. To respect the dignity and confidentiality of our service users at all times.
